The Woman MP for Nabilatuk, Sylvia Vicky Awas has expressed concern  that hundreds of people in Nabilatuk are counting losses after raging floods swept away people's homes, gardens and livestock.

Awas said  as the leadership of the district prepares a report about the gravity of the problem, the office of the Prime Minister should  urgently intervene as the situation is getting out of hand.

According to Awas, the most affected parishes are Kamaturu and Nathinyonoit in Lorengedwat subcounty, Kothike and Nakayoit  in Kasike Subcounty, Arengesiep  in Nabilatuk Subcounty and Lokaala parish in Nabilatuk Subcounty.

"With the information I have received from both the CAO of Nabilatuk and on ground from people, for the last two days over 300 goats have been swept away by these raging floods in these six parishes," Awas said.

" The district is compiling a report on the gravity of the problem, but should not wait for the report but rather swing in action to save the people's lives."

According to the MP, it's not only Nabilatuk  but also other districts in Karamoja including Amudat have been affected by these raging floods.

"However, it's good that no report of death of people has been reported in these affected areas."
